PEOPLE LIKE ME - Kunstlinie

From October 11th to December 13th, 2024, Kunstlinie in Almere will present the groundbreaking exhibition PEOPLE LIKE ME. This exhibition is dedicated to promoting and celebrating acceptance within the LGBTQIA+ community and promises to be a powerful, moving experience.

As an artist, I am honored to create a space with PEOPLE LIKE ME where art and awareness come together. This exhibition is not only a platform for visual expression but also an invitation to reflect more deeply on issues of identity, acceptance, and connection within the rainbow community.

Through my portraits, I aim to capture the rich diversity within the LGBTQIA+ community while also painting an intimate and personal picture of individuals who often fall outside the mainstream. PEOPLE LIKE ME showcases stories of people finding their own path in a world that is not always understanding. The strength and vulnerability I have captured reflect not only their struggles but also their pride and resilience.

The title of the exhibition carries a double meaning: on one hand, it refers to ‘people like me,’ but it also raises a broader question—are people like me truly seen and valued? This question lies at the heart of this project, where I challenge the viewer to look beyond surface differences and explore the shared emotions and desires that make us all human.

PEOPLE LIKE ME invites everyone to reflect on the power of diversity and the importance of connection. This exhibition offers an opportunity to hear stories that often go untold and to gain a deeper understanding of the multifaceted experiences within the LGBTQIA+ community.

I warmly invite you to join me on this journey and discover the stories behind the portraits. PEOPLE LIKE ME is more than an exhibition; it is a platform for dialogue and connection, a space where art has the power to contribute to the broader social conversation.
